Providence is calling a House Supervisor Nursing (Medical Surgical, Night shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Valdez Medical Center in Valdez, Alaska. In this position you will:

  • Directs Patient/Resident Care Services:

  • Monitors care provided on the nursing units and addresses concerns with the caregivers, charge nurses, and other unit/department management teams

  • Patient Care:

  • Steps in as necessary to help with clinical and bedside needs

  • Collaborates with Medical Staff and Professionals:

  • Provides consultation and direction for efficient operation and quality customer service

  • Investigates Concerns and Issues:

  • Works collaboratively with caregivers and others to determine issues and corrective actions related to patient, family, provider or caregiver concerns

  • Oversees Nurse Staffing:

  • Directs and collaborates with department/unit management team and nurses to help assure appropriate staffing and efficient use of resources

  • Emergency Response:

  • Responds to codes and emergency situations, providing leadership and assistance as necessary

  • Facilitates Referral Process for Organ Donation and Manages Post-mortem Process:

  • Facilitates communication with patient care units, mortuaries, Medical Examiner, Organ Donation Program, next-of-kin, morgue/security and spiritual care regarding in-house deaths

  • Provides Leadership and Guidance to the Hospital Staff:

  • Directly supervises staff members

  • Professional Development:

  • Keeps clinical and management skills current and relevant through demonstrated involvement in job related training programs and in-services

  • Maintains confidentiality of records or medical center information at all times:

  • Maintains full knowledge of HIPAA regulations

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Graduation from an accredited/approved school of nursing.

  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing, to be obtained in 3 years of hire or equivalent educ/experience

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card must be from American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire.

  • Able to be certified in ACLS, ENPC/PALs, NRP, TNCC within a year of hire.

  • 2 years recent Acute care hospital experience as a staff nurse

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • 2 years nursing supervisory/charge nurse experience
