We are seeking a Clinical Educator Simulator works under the general direction of the Regional Senior Manager to develop and implement the simulation lab programs for the Prov SoCal region and the communities it serves. The role serves as an educator, clinical resource and technology specialist. This individual develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates the simulation program and collaborates closely with other disciplines and with the Clinical Educators. This role is responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the regional simulation labs including maintenance and upkeep of the labs, manikins and AV equipment.
In this position you will:
Program Development in partnership with regional Simulation Manager/Senior Manager
Collaborate with regional inter-professional staff and educators in designing, implementing, and evaluating simulation education and lab activities
Develop and implements lab policy and procedures.
Collaborates with regional health professions programs in the use of simulation equipment
Plan, implements and evaluates simulation activities following the program planning model.
Develop learning objectives based on needs assessments.
Determine how objectives will be evaluated and designs evaluation for major educational efforts.
Modifies existing scenarios.
Review scenarios with faculty and provides feedback.
Assist with programming of scenarios using manikin-specific software.
Integrate INACSL standards of best practice in all aspects of simulation program design.
Evaluate the effectiveness of lab practices and procedures, making recommendations for change to the Regional Senior Manager as needed.
Operations, Technology, Equipment , Stewardship:
Establishes practices and procedures for lab activities that provide for effective learning.
Coordinate daily operations to ensure smooth functioning of the lab.
Set-up, turns-over, and cleans up simulation lab for each session.
Maintain simulation and skills lab equipment, supplies and AV equipment.
Prepare simulation and skills equipment, supplies, and AV equipment for each simulation session.
Operate, troubleshoots, and repairs computerized manikins (software and hardware), task trainers, related multimedia peripherals, and AV systems.
Maintain cleanliness of the simulators, equipment, simlabs and control rooms.
Coordinate simulation and technology equipment for regional travel as needed.
Attend meetings and networks within professional organizations to maintain currency with simulation practice.
Maintain current knowledge of simulation equipment, catalogs, and operations manuals.
Forecasts necessary equipment and supplies, providing input into the budget.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Teaching and Continuing Education:
Trains regional staff in the use of manikins and task trainers and teaches development, implementation, and debriefing of scenarios to meet identified outcomes.
Assists in implementing and debriefing scenarios and acts as a resource to regional faculty in running and facilitating simulation.
Provide appropriate orientation and guidance related to use of the simulation lb and equipment.
Effectively incorporates strategies such as e-learning and other technologies into instruction.
Keep current in clinical simulation trends and participates in applicable continuing education.
Maintai current certification (BLS).
Maintain credibility and visibility through maintenance and advancement of personal knowledge and skill base.
Performance Improvement/Research Application:
Participate in standing committees, task forces, meetings and activities to assist in staff development resulting in improved patient care outcomes.
Collect data on outcome measures that demonstrate effectiveness of instruction.
Summarize results and draws conclusions in a brief report.
Review the literature for current research findings and promotes utilization of applicable research findings for the improvement of patient care.
Participate in evidence-based practice and research activities as opportunities arise.
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Current California Registered Nurse license.
Current American Heart Association BLS certification
Certified Healthcare Simulation Education (CHSE) certification or achieve within 1 year of hire
3 years in acute hospital experience in clinical specialty area.
1 year of experience with simulation
Possesses strong technical aptitude
Quickly troubleshoots and resolves problems
Demonstrated problem solving skills
Demonstrated written communication skills
Strong verbal communication and listening skills
Excellent organizational skills
Possesses flexibility to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment
Performs work independently with minimal supervision
Possesses a high degree of initiative
Basic computer skills is required
- Master's Degree in Nursing or Simulation
