Providence RN - Clinical Staff Supervisor - Dermatology in Tigard, Oregon
Providence is calling a Nursing Supervisor Clinical Staff (1.0 FTE, Days) to support our Bridgeport and Sunset Dermatology Clinics in the Portland Metro Area. Anticipated Schedule will support Monday-Friday day shift.
We are seeking for Nursing Clinical Staff Supervisor that will coordinate and manage the clinical support staff and the clinical workflows and activities within the clinic. This position functions as a integral member of the clinic leadership team, bringing the professional nursing perspective to the group and upholding the standards of nursing practice. Oversee the care provided by clinical support staff and initiates efforts to improve the quality and skill levels of the clinical staff members. Lead the clinical staff to ensure that patient care services are provided in an efficient, safe, and timely manner that is sensitive to the patient's physical, psychological and spiritual needs. Ensure compliance with established clinic policies and procedures.
This role will oversee our CMA and LPN staff and will split their time amongst the Sunset (80-85%) and Bridgeport (15-20%) dermatology clinics.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
CLINICAL PRACTICE / CLINIC OPERATIONS FUNCTIONS:
Communicate and collaborate with the clinic leadership team, providers and staff regarding daily operational issues
Work as a team player to assure overall effective clinical operations
Keep leadership team apprised of concerns, problems and issues that arise during the normal course of business
Participate in defining, maintaining, interpreting and monitoring nursing, MA and ancillary personnel scope of practice related to clinical standards of ambulatory care
Maintain current knowledge of trends in nursing practice, health and ambulatory care
Convey new information to the clinical support staff
Supervise the daily clinical operations and functions of the clinic
Assess and redistribute duties throughout the shift to ensure timely completion
Triage urgent/emergent cases
Create daily work schedules and assignments of clinical support staff in accordance with their skills, abilities and job positions
Collaborate with Workforce Development Department to identify ongoing training needs to maintain and upgrade staff competencies
Mentor, coach and counsel clinical support staff
Identify and respond to situational problems, patient or provider concerns or clinical support staff issues in a professional manner using clinical judgment
Work toward a permanent resolution
Interface with various PHS departments (Home Health, Lab, ED, and other departments) as needed
Attend and participate in Patient Care Committee (PCC) meetings
Conduct monthly clinical staff meetings to facilitate communication and enhance team building
Participate and /or regularly attends PMG forums or meetings as necessary
Assist with Clinic Manager duties and responsibilities in his/her absence
HUMAN RESOURCE (HR) FUNCTIONS:
Participate in all components of clinical support staff hiring (interview, selection, hiring, on-boarding, orientation, training and supervision), performance evaluation, competency testing, staff development and motivation, promoting employee recognition.
Initiate disciplinary processes as required by policy, documenting and delivering corrective action when necessary, final corrective action and disciplinary process could include termination. All disciplinary process must be conducted along with Clinic Manager involvement
QUALITY MANAGEMENT/IMPROVEMENT FUNCTIONS:
Work with the clinic leadership team to set goals and implement actions plans to achieve those goals
Oversee and maintain quality standards of care according to current policies and procedures
Assist in the development and update of clinical protocols, policies and procedures in conjunction with the Nursing Quality Committee (NQC)
Identify ongoing training needs of clinical support staff and meets those needs by facilitating educational opportunities
Maintain staff educational and training files
Participate in efficient “through-put” management by assisting with standardization of clinic processes and procedures; developing, assessing and revising clinic workflows; and implementing new processes and initiatives
PATIENT AND EMPLOYEE SAFETY:Participate in PHS safety programs as the clinic safety officer. Is responsible for monthly clinic safety committee meetings
Maintain a safe environment for staff and patients
Be responsible for EOC, TJC and Safety Surveys as well as completion of Unusual Occurrence Reports (UORs)
Oversee completion of all required safety training by clinic support staff and maintains training records in the employee’s training file
Required qualifications in this position includes:
Graduated from an accredited school of nursing
Current state of Oregon Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
Three (3) years of experience in direct patient care, preferably in an ambulatory setting
One (1) year experience in supervisory position, preferably in an ambulatory setting
Clinical experience in triage principles of patient assessment
Experience in delegation of nursing responsibilities to licensed and unlicensed personnel, preferably within the ambulatory setting
Preferred qualifications in this position include:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing -OR- related field
