Providence Health & Services RN Wound Specialist in Spokane, Washington
Providence is calling a Wound Specialist RN (1.0 FTE, Days) to work in Sub Acute Care I at Providence St. Joseph Care Center in Spokane, WA.
The Wound Specialist RN is responsible for providing evaluation, nursing services, consultation and education for staff regarding wound care. Functions independently and/or in conjunction with an interdisciplinary team based on the patient's identified needs. Practice is within the scope defined by the Washington State Nurse Discipline Practice Act, based on the nursing process model and concept of community health nursing therapy. Shifts will be 8 hours.
In this position you will:
Serve as a clinical resource to agency staff on issues pertaining to patients with wounds, pressure ulcers, ostomies (if area of expertise), fistulas and incontinence (if area of expertise); Make joint visits for evaluation and education purposes as needed.
Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, develop plans of care, coordinate care with other disciplines and provide direct patient care in the implementation of outcome oriented nursing interventions under the physician ordered Plan of Care (POC).
Promote and deliver coordinated wound, ostomy, and continence services per certification held.
Promote comprehensive care for patients through coordination of medical, agency, and community resources. Assists patients with preparation for discharge including supplies needed.
Collaborate with all healthcare team members (internal & external) toward the best outcomes for the patient and ministry.
Assess POC of ostomy patients (if area of expertise) and promote nursing care directed toward self-care and psychosocial rehabilitation; evaluate the effectiveness of care provided and revise care plan if indicated.
Serve as a consultant to other nurses and healthcare professionals in managing highly complex patient care problems.
Required qualifications for this position:
Graduate of a school of nursing
Two (2) years full time experience practicing as a registered nurse
One (1) year recent (within last three years) clinical experience
Experience as a wound specialist
Current Washington State Registered Nurse (RN) License
Current Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Preferred qualifications for this position:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
Graduate from an accredited WOCN program and have current WOCN license -or- Licensed as Wound Care Specialist or Enterostomal Therapist
Experience in a Medicare-certified Homecare or Hospice agency/facility
WOCN certification or wound specialist certification
