Providence is calling a Clinical Nurse Specialty Supervisor (RN) (Full-Time/Day-Shift) to Providence Facey Medical Foundation Valencia & Mission Hills, CA.
We are seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialty Supervisor - Under the general direction of the Clinical Nurse Specialty Director, supervises and coordinates the patients care support staff. Develops and implements quality improvement programs; ensures efficient allocation and use of resources.

In this position you will:
Act as a resource to the patient care delivery Staff. Performs job functions timely and efficiently
Deliver upon the service expectations of both our patients and fellow staff members by listening to their needs; engaging in positive interactions; and following through on promises made in a thoughtful, efficient, timely and courteous manner so that their total outcome is better than expected
Respect the dignity, confidentiality and privacy of patients
Worksin a safe manner, adhering to general safety precautions and standards. Reports any unsafe conditions to their supervisor and/or the safety hotline
Ensure that areas of responsibility are operating in accordance with Quality Assurance/Quality Management and accreditation standards
Assist in the development of the budget for the department and allocates funds within budget to accomplish objectives. Monitors/reports variances against budget
Coordinate staffing in assigned work areas; maintains a master calendar of staff scheduling; assesses the need to utilize float staff service adjusting the staffing to meet the needs of the physicians and patient load
Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, meetings and workshops
Support the waived and moderately complex clinical lab testing needs of the Urgent Care. This includes performing testing considered moderately complex on patient samples and the associated quality control materials in accordance with the Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s). Additionally, provides onsite oversight for control and instrument maintenance, documentation and complete the training and ongoing competencies requirements as defined by the Laboratory Medical Director
Ensure the adherence to established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards
Develop, recommends and coordinates the implementation of new procedures
Attend meetings as required and participates on committees as directed
Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions utilizing observation and review of documentation to determine patient treatment outcomes and need for staff training/education
Develop implementation and administers in-service education for staff
Investigate complaints of patients, staff and medical staff and takes appropriate action; follows up to ensure that complaints have been satisfactorily handled
Monitor and ensures accuracy of recording on patient medical records. Maintains all required reports, records, statistics, etc
Ensure an adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment
Cooperate with other personnel to achieve department/team objectives, maintains good employee relations and interdepartmental teamwork objectives and good customer service programs
Plan, conducts and supervises small, short term projects
Implement and maintains an ongoing employee recognition programs for staff; assesses the effectiveness of communication programs and redesigns accordingly
Approve/deny approved time off for staff. Monitors time cards for assigned employees, evaluates and corrects deficiencies in time card accuracy and submission. Authorizes any overtime
Maintain current RN license, ACLS, American Heart Association BLS for Health Care Providers and other appropriate licensure/certifications
Coordinate and conducts the required staff meetings with the other Clinical Nurse Specialty Supervisor
Demonstrate effective supervisory skills
Hire and retains qualified staff; ensures new employees are oriented to their department and well trained for their jobs
Organize the department workload and establishes work standards to promote efficiency and productivity
Conduct departmental staff meetings on a monthly basis or more frequently if needed and maintains minutes of all meetings
Motivate and supervises staff to ensure that performance standards are met or exceeded
Give timely and constructive feedback on performance; documents all corrective counseling
Prepare and conducts fair and objective performance appraisals within one month of the employee's anniversary date
Ensure that adequate in-service education is available to staff members
Keep staff apprised of changes in organization and departmental policies
Maintain a high degree of professionalism
Demonstrate the ability to make decisions, take appropriate action and follow tasks through to completion
Recognize the implications of new situations and develops workable solutions
Demonstrate a willingness to accept new responsibilities
Respond cooperatively to managers and staff members in other departments to promote teamwork
Act as a role model in demonstrating the customer service standards of the organization
Demonstrate a commitment to personal growth and development by participating in external activities related to professional goals
Attend departmental meetings as appropriate and contributes ideas for improving efficiency, productivity and patient satisfaction
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.Or equivalent educ/experience
Current California RN license
ACLS and American Heart Association BLS for Health Care Providers
Excellent communication skills essential
Preferred qualification for this position includes:
PALS
2 years of Nursing staff supervisory experience in a patient care delivery setting.
Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
UR/QA knowledge along with knowledge in the development of protocols
Ability to multi-task and provide daily supervision in a fast-paced environment
