Nurse Residency Hiring Event for Opportunities in the Portland, OR Metro area!

Providence is calling for applications to several New Graduate RN Residency positions. An RN Residency with Providence provides the foundation and support essential to becoming an expert in your specialty. Learn through a combination of structured curriculum, simulation, and authentic patient experiences guided by preceptors. If you are a recently graduated RN, with less than 12 months of experience, then the Providence resident program has exciting opportunities for you .

Eligible Nurse Residents should have graduated from an accredited RN program within the prior 18 months, and have less than 12 months of RN experience.

Positions that we will interviewing for on May 24th, 25th & 26th are located at Providence St Vincent Medical Center and Providence Portland Medical Center. There are also additional opportunities at our ministries in Milwaukie, Oregon City and Newberg.

Opportunities for Residency training may include areas such as:

  • Medical / Surgical units

  • Float Pool - Floating to Medical/Surgical/Telemetry units

Hiring Process Overview:

  • Upon application, qualified candidates will be asked to complete a series of SMS/Text pre-screening questions that are required to move forward

  • Candidates will then be invited to self-schedule an interview with a small panel of hiring managers based on your preferred location

In this position, you will:

  • Work with a preceptor and assuming increasing responsibility during the residency.

  • Demonstrate competencies in populations served at completion of residency.

  • Provide professional, comprehensive nursing care for patients in an acute care environment.

  • Practice in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act in the state of employment, the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the ANA scope and standards of practice.


Minimum required qualifications for this position include:

  • Eligible Nurse Residents should have graduated from an accredited RN program within the prior 18 months, and have less than 12 months of RN experience.

  • Nursing degree/diploma required upon hire

  • All Registered Nurses (RNs) without a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in nursing must obtain a bachelor’s degree in nursing or higher within 3 years of hire.

  • Completion of a pre-licensure nursing program and is newly licensed. Length of time since graduation can vary; however, typically is less than 12 months from graduation.

  • Unencumbered RN license in state(s) of hire, and wherever care is delivered.

  • If RN holds a multistate license through the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC), the RN must adhere to the requirements of licensure in the new state(s) of hire.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card must be from the following authorized governing bodies: American Heart Association (AHA) - (BLS Provider), American Red Cross (ARC) - (BLS for Health Care Provider), or Military Training Network (MTN) – (Healthcare Provider) upon hire.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing

  • Depending on the unit you may need additional certification.
