Providence is calling a Registered Nurse (RN) (0.9 FTE, Night Shift) to work in Emergency Services at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, WA.

For External Hires only: This position offers $20,000 sign-on bonus for experienced acute care RNs ($10,000 upon starting, $10,000 after 13 months of continuous work)

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional, comprehensive nursing care for patients in an acute care environment. Accountable for the delivery of coordinated, safe, compassionate, therapeutic, evidence-based quality care to patients and families, based on individual physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, and appropriate care strategies throughout the lifespan. Practices in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act in the state of employment, the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the ANA scope and standards of practice. Key functions and specific skills for the job are found in the unit specific onboarding checklist and in standards that are applicable to the specialty.

In this position you will:

  • Assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate patient’s care to achieve patient goals and to optimize outcomes.

  • Effectively advocate for ethical and holistic care to promote the autonomy, dignity, rights, values and beliefs of those we serve.

  • Foster a learning environment for patient/families, nursing, and other members of the healthcare team including students.

  • Align practice with safety and quality; be accountable for safety, identify and correct problems.

  • Engage in ongoing professional development; promote a culture of inquiry that explores, integrates and disseminates research and evidence based practice.

  • Lead and coordinate teams, delegate, coordinate care and collaborate with others as equal members of the inter-professional care team to integrate nursing knowledge.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications:

  • Nursing degree/diploma required upon hire.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or higher within 3 years of hire. Or equivalent educ/experience

  • A RN with 20 years of RN experience will not be required to obtain a BSN.

  • Any previously agreed upon effective date for obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in nursing between individual and facility will remain in effect.

  • Any collective bargaining contract with specific time frames for obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in nursing will supersede the above point and will remain in effect.

  • Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis at each facility by the most senior administrative nursing leader in consultation with the Human Resources leader.

  • RNs employed prior to 1/1/17 are encouraged to obtain a Bachelor’s degree or higher degree in Nursing, but obtaining the degree will not be a condition of employment.

  • Unencumbered RN license in state(s) of hire, and wherever care is delivered. If RN holds a multi-state license through the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC), the RN must adhere to the requirements of licensure in the new state(s) of hire.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card must be from the following authorized governing bodies: American Heart Association (AHA) - (BLS Provider), American Red Cross (ARC) - (BLS for Health Care Provider), or Military Training Network (MTN) – (BLS Provider) upon hire

  • Caregivers who are Nursing Resource/Float Pool RNs are expected to possess/obtain the required certifications for all units in which they provide care.

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be from American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training

  • Network (MTN). All applicable caregivers need to renew every 2 years.

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be from American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training

  • Network (MTN). All applicable caregivers need to renew every 2 years.

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) must be from American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)/American Heart

  • Association (AHA). All applicable caregivers need to renew every 2 years.

  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) must be from Emergency Nurses Association (ENA). All applicable caregivers need to renew every 3 years.

  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) must be from Emergency Nurses Association (ENA). All applicable caregivers need to renew every 4 years.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree Bachelor’s degree in nursing upon hire.

  • National Certification in area of specialty is preferred, unless otherwise indicated.
