We are seeking a Regional Stroke Director who will be responsible to lead and coordinate efforts to develop and maintain a system of stroke care to include neurocritical care within the Providence Health Services and the southern CA Region that includes the LA Service Area and the Orange county/High Desert Service Area. He/she will oversee clinical management, data and technology to support program development and growth within the PHSCA stroke and neurocritical care system. This position will serve as the lead expert in comprehensive stroke and neurocritical care services from the pre-hospital setting through the continuum of patient care. She/he will oversee imaging, radiology and telehealth services to affect quality and efficiency of care. The Director will ensure RN, technologists and staff competencies and implement best evidence-based neuroscience protocols and guidelines. In addition, specific areas include:
Standardized evidence-based clinic practice guidelines.
The Joint Commission and DNV-GL regulatory requirements for stroke certifications.
Quality metrics in neurocritical care.
Performance improvement system
Educational materials for patients/families regarding stroke care.
Implementation of technologies associated with stroke care, i.e. teleneurology, ICU monitoring, imaging.
Relationships with outlying facilities and non-Providence partners.
Transfer of patients between facilities.
Maintenance of data and PI processes.
Neurocritical Care patient populations.
In this position you will:
Develop Stroke System of Care:
Implement strategies and tactics necessary to achieve a highest-quality Stroke System of Care
Create a systematic, coordinated approach to stroke care across the region, including standardized evidence-based clinical practice guidelines integration
Develop a system for access to stroke care in conjunction with the local and regional leaders
Achievement of quality initiatives: Comprehensive Stroke Center certification, neuroscience quality reporting per the region and Providence Health and Services. Includes development of new programs associated with neurocritical care and stroke
Maintain data abstraction and analysis for stroke and neurocritical care
Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies governing neuroscience care, and rules, policy, and laws of accrediting agencies
Engage physicians and staff in neuroscience clinical management integration
Establish, maintain and evaluate sustainable processes for patient care
Partner with neuroscience coordinators in the development and implementation of evidence-based processes to support excellence in neuroscience care
Growth and Fiscal Responsibilities:
Develop outreach and educational programs in conjunction with EMS, community agencies, and rural health services for stroke and neurocritical care services
Initiate program and service development, evaluation, and restructuring to meet changing market needs
Actively interact with urban hospitals and communities, physicians (internal and external) to facilitate increased access to neuroscience services
Ensure optimal use of resources to provide best neuroscience outcomes and services
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy
Licensed as a Registered Nurse, Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist in the State of California or eligible to be licensed in the State of California
5 years Stroke coordination and telestroke
Working within healthcare systems
Must possess strong interpersonal skills and flexibility in working with administrators, physicians and multidisciplinary teams
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Master's Degree in Healthcare
