Providence is calling a Nursing Supervisor House - Nursing Service Administration (0.0 FTE, Rotating/Variable) to Providence Milwaukie Hospital in Milwaukie , OR. This per-diem position will need to work either day or night shifts to be able to cover other Nursing Supervisors that are on PTO or leave.

We are seeking a Nursing Supervisor House - Nursing Service Administration that will be accountable for the provision of quality nursing services and coordination of the inter-professional team in a hospital for a defined shift. With a consistent focus on patient and family centered care and high reliability principles, the Supervisor promotes evidence-based practice within a context of constant change in patient volume and acuity, and available resources. The Hospital Supervisor serves as the primary leader in ensuring effective and efficient patient flow in the Hospital. S/he builds collaborative relationships with others Health System, and uses timely and effective verbal and written communication approaches. S/he constructively leads through organizational change. The Supervisor demonstrates commitment to lifelong learning and demonstrates contemporary professional nursing standards and skills.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Use independent, critical judgment in all aspects of patient care delivery and hospital operations
Provide leadership for the inter-professional care team to facilitate their work in meeting patient's individual care needs
Respond and lead effectively in urgent or emergency situations, including setting up incident command structures, in partnership with other leaders
Document all assessments, plans and interventions in the patient’s clinical record, if appropriate
Provide consistent and appropriate support to patients, families and guests
Mentor nurses and inter-professional team members as needed
Provide appropriate pharmacy support, based on credentialing/training
Constantly focus on quality improvement using high reliability principles and evidence based approaches for patient care and hospital operations
Resource for internal and external regulatory patient care requirements
Communicate in a timely, positive and constructive manner
Demonstrate flexibility and creativity in response to unexpected changes in workload, hospital status and/or patient status within a shift. Reassigns resources as a response if needed
Actively participate as an inter-professional team member, and leader
Consistently incorporate high reliability approaches in helping ensure a safe practice environment
Demonstrate excellent conflict management skills
Coordinate resources and meets multiple patients’ needs, realigning priorities as needed
Recognize personal learning needs and sets goals for further clinical and professional development
Make decisions about throughput, placing the hospital on and off divert, patient placement and the deployment of staff resources with input from managers, charge nurses, providers and other inter-professional team members
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Current Oregon RN license
BLS Healthcare Provider.
Current credentialing in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within six (6) months of hire
Five (5) years in Nursing, with experience in progressive leadership roles
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Master's Degree in Nursing -OR- related field
Experience working as a RN within Emergency and/or Critical Care units within acute care.
