Description:

Providence is calling a Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) Lead (Kettle Falls Family Practice Clinic,Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Medical Group in Spokane, Washington. In this position you will:

  • Registered Nurse Team Lead Responsibilities/Job Duties:

  • Serve as a resource person and problem solver for other employees within the department and assists in the preparation of department protocols and instructions.

  • May be identified as the point person when the manager/supervisor is off-site

  • Monitor the work flow, prioritize and direct the activities of other employees within the department, assisting with scheduling, including same day scheduling and coverage and task assignment.

  • Lead huddles or assigns a leader for each day/week – includes taking notes and dispersing to staff

  • Maintain appropriate levels of medical and/or office supplies

  • Approve URGENT building maintenance issues, under the direction of manager/supervisor, if appropriate

  • Provid service recovery when manager/supervisor is unavailable

  • Addresses observed behaviors of employees they lead whether favorable or unfavorable, and provides observed performance data to manager/supervisor when requested

  • In some situations, assists in hiring, provides performance information for evaluations and works with management on enhancing performance of employees

  • Provide regular updates to visibility boards

  • Review employee time-off requests and determine staffing needs

  • Attendance at meetings as requested by the manager/supervisor

  • Involvement in special projects or reports, such as summarizing departmental statistics related to work product or monthly reports related to department functions

  • Monitor provider schedules on a daily basis to optimize patient access

  • Primary responsibility for staff training. Oversees assimilation of new staff into the clinic

  • Registered Nurse Responsibilities/Job Duties:

  • Proactively informs clinic leadership of all operational issues as they arise

  • Provide plans for resolution and proposals for improvement to clinic leadership

  • Use critical thinking & triage skills to assess patient problems, both in the office and on the phone. Determines disposition of patient

  • Act as a content expert and clinical resource by providing staff and patient education

  • Educate patient & family about diagnostic procedures, medications, chronic disease management and treatment instructions

  • Maintain & reviews patient records, charts and other pertinent information. Communicates test results and instructions to patients per practice protocol

  • Interview patient, documents chief complaint, measures vital signs and accurately records information in EMR

  • Review medications and updates appropriate flow-sheet at each patient visit

  • Establishe priorities in organizing daily activities

  • Effectively manages patient flow

  • Obtain data relating to patient’s condition and incorporates into written assessments and reports to appropriate physician

  • Instruct patient in collection of samples and tests. Consistently demonstrates correct handling of procedure specimens per physician orders, including appropriate identification, labeling, dating and disposition of the specimen

  • Assist with cleaning and disinfection of equipment according to manufacturer’s directions and practice infection control policies

  • Anticipate special equipment, solutions, and miscellaneous supplies needed for various procedures and assists providers during treatment, examination and testing of patients

  • Accurately documents all pertinent information regarding the patient in EMR

  • Accurately and promptly refills prescriptions as authorized by provider and/or practice policy

  • Attend practice staff meetings

  • Treat all others with respect and demonstrates excellence, justice, stewardship and compassion in daily work and relationships with others

  • Adhere to all established policies including attendance and appearance policies

  • Maintain a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors

  • Adhere to established infection control policies, procedures and protocols

  • Successfully completes required educational modules in the required timeframes and participates in fire drills and emergency exercises

  • Consider individual needs in communication with others, including ethical, cultural, psychosocial, religious, and age-specific aspects for all ages

  • Support patient rights and the organization’s code of ethical behavior

  • Follow the principles and requirements outlined in the Commitments & Compliance Integrity Program Employee Handbook and any other organizational or departmental materials related to compliance with laws and regulatory requirements

  • Maintain confidentiality of all information related to patients, medical staff, employees, and as appropriate, other information

  • Demonstrate service excellence and positive interpersonal relations in dealing with others, including patients/families/members, employees, managers, medical staff, volunteers and community members, so that productivity and positive relations are maximized

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position includes:

  • Coursework/Training of graduate of an accredited nursing program

  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Washington

  • Current BLS – Healthcare Provider (must be AHA accredited) for urgent care

  • Experience in the job for which they will be the lead and be able to explain all duties and responsibilities of the staff they will be overseeing

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • One (1) year clinical experience
