The RN Sepsis Coordinator, under the direction of the Director of Emergency and Critical Care Services, is accountable for the overall management, leadership, and direction of the clinical and operational activities of the sepsis program. The Coordinator will work to create an environment that fosters a multidisciplinary and collaborative team approach to care, treatment and follow-up for septic patients that achieves operational and clinical "Best Practice." The Coordinator works with department directors and oversees the daily operations of the sepsis program initiatives; assisting nursing, medical and ancillary staff in providing quality care outcomes for the care of patients with sepsis
In this position you will:
Development, implementation and ongoing adherence of the sepsis program protocols and therapies. Ensures the protocols and therapies become the standard of care followed within the facility, while providing and participating in the quality improvement process
Collaboration with medical and hospital staff to promote multidisciplinary care to patients with a diagnosis of sepsis
Collects and analyzes sepsis program patient data to assist with documentation, clinical care, and improved outcomes
Coordinates sepsis care according to guidelines from The Joint Commission, Surviving Sepsis Campaign, and other regulatory bodies / current evidence.
Develops evidence-based screening tools which identifies potential septic patients and initiates measures to comply with the sepsis core measures. Evaluates and implements appropriate research findings in nursing practice.
Stays abreast of all new requirements and/or clinical information regarding sepsis. Regularly reviews the core measure requirements and communicates any changes in requirements to sepsis program members and appropriate committees.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) within 6 months of hire
Unencumbered RN license in state(s) of hire, and wherever care is delivered. If RN holds a multi-state license through the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC), the RN must adhere to the requirements of licensure in the new state(s) of hire.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card must be from the following authorized governing bodies: American Heart Association (AHA) - (BLS Provider), American Red Cross (ARC) - (BLS for Health Care Provider), or Military Training Network (MTN) – (BLS Provider) upon hire.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be from American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network (MTN).
Three (3) years nursing experience (Critical Care or ED).
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Master's Degree in Nursing or Business Administration.
Experience as a Clinical Nurse Leader or Clinical Nurse Specialist.
One (1) year experience as Program Coordinator.
Certification in area of practice
